Sardines Day

Celebrated every year on November 24.

Sardines are named after the Italian island Sardinia.
But sardines are not strictly Italian.
Sardines swim in many seas almost all over the world.

Sardines are toothless “filter feeders” so they eat mostly plankton.
When they are not canned, sandwiched or put into Worcestershire sauce, sardines can live up to 8 to 14 years.

“Life is like a box of sardines
and we are all looking for the key.”

— Alan Bennett
