bouillabaisse /bo͞o′yə-bās′/
1. A  thoroughly seasoned stew or soup made of several kinds of fish, shellfish, tomatoes, olive oil, and often saffron.
2. A figure of speech to describe a combination of various different, often unrelated elements.

Bouillabaisse is a traditional Provençal fish stew originating from the port city of Marseille where seafood was naturally abundant and fresh.
The word “bouillabaisse” comes from the Provençal Occitan word “bolhabaissa”, a compound that consists of the verbs “bolhir”, which means “to boil”, and “abaissar”, which means “to simmer”.
