Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

Celebrated every year on November 25.

Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women was created in 1999
on initiative by the Latin American and Caribbean Feminist Encuentros
which was made official by UN resolution.
The date is based on the assassination of the Mirabal sisters in 1960 because of their work as political activists.

“It is when we finally realize the futility of violence
and the invalidity of war
will we, the people of this world
finally wake up!”
