An event every year that begins at 00:00 on day 20 of March, repeating indefinitely
When: March 20
Where: 🌐 Everywhere
First occurrence: 1990
This day in history at 2:00 am on March 20, 1990, the notorious Book Bandit, Stephen Blumberg, was arrested for stealing more than 23,600 rare, valuable and assorted other books from at least 268 universities and museums Bibliomania or bibliokleptomania, or both?
📚📖
The impressive stockpile that Stephen Blumberg managed to loot was far outnumbered by the gargantuan collection of Sir Thomas Phillipps who collected over 160,000 books and manuscripts. But he had a life time to collect books because he never got arrested …because he politely paid for all his books. He paid until he used up all his fortune and went far into debt and never ceased to be hungry to acquire one more book…and another…and so on.
