The first iPod Day was released on October 23 2001
The iPod was not the first flash drive media player,
but the reactions of the public and Apples’ competitors
made for a very interesting playlist of events
in the years that followed.
🎶 Back in 2001, portable music players were still mostly cassette walkmans and portable CD players. Having music on flash memory was quite a novelty in 2001. Also, the iPods were pretty, sleek and simple to operate and, in good Apple tradition, heavily advertised. The first iPod had an impressive storage of 5GB and was $399. So, actually….it took some years for it to catch on, because of it’s price and of course it only worked with Apple products, because compatibility was, like in good Apple tradition, NOT on the priority list.
🎶 If you encounter any parody featuring the iPhone,
good chance that it dates from the first decade of this century. This was time of innovations that were exciting,
but also heavily riddled with incompatibilities
and ginormous price tags.
