Mutt’s Day is also known as National Mixed Breed Dog Day.
National Mixed Breed Dog Day was created by Colleen Paige and was first celebrated in 2005.
Nowadays this name has been shortened to Mutt’s Day and now is gone internationally to celebrate every mixed breed dog globally.
Mixed breeds are often overlooked and underestimated because humans like to breed the most diverse and fancy dogs in all sizes, colors and shapes.
The controversy of pure breeding is increasing rapidly though, as breeding certain dogs is getting so drastically out of hand that health problems and even ethical problems occur ever more frequently.
Mutt’s Day helps raising awareness that mixed breed dogs often have the advantage of a larger gene pool and not being tied to looks for procreation.
On the average mutts are often more healthy.
And the diversity of their appearance creates some incredibly adorable individuals.
Did you meet a cute mutt somewhere in your life?
Remember this good dog fondly
