Mixed Breed Dog Day

Created by
Colleen Paige
in 2005

Because there are so many dogs from unknown ancestry
in sanctuaries or even homeless,
Colleen created 2 2 dates for Mutt’s Day
hoping more of these dogs of unknown pedigree
will get a well deserved  forever home.

Mixed breeds are often overlooked and underestimated because humans like to breed extremely fancy dogs in all sizes, colors and shapes.
The controversy of pure breeding is increasing rapidly, as breeding certain dogs is getting so drastically out of hand that health problems and even ethical problems occur ever more frequently.

Mutt’s Day helps raising awareness that mixed breed dogs often have the advantage of a larger gene pool. Therefore the average mutt is usually healthier.
And the diversity of their appearance creates incredibly adorable individuals.
