October 17, 2022 - October 21, 2022

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every year that begins at 00:00 on day third of October, repeating indefinitely

When:
Third Monday
of October
Where:
Everywhere
First occurrence:
1900-something
Created by
Marion Young
in the early 1900’s
The word “nanomónestôtse” means “peace” in the
Cheyenne language.

The preparations consist of building miniature
traditional villages, preparing the Nanomonestotse meal
and of course self-reflection about self improvement.

Nanomonestotse itself is celebrated on the Friday
of that week.
Unless Friday is inconvenient, then
the Saturday or Sunday will do.
The Nanomonestotse meal is a healthy meal with
foods that are Native to that part of America.

The model villages built during the preparations will
be displayed as centrepieces around a nice candle.
