Transgender Day of Remembrance

November 20

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every year that begins at 00:00 on day 20 of November, repeating indefinitely

When:
November 20
Where:
🌐 Everywhere
First occurrence:
1999
Created by  Gwendolyn Ann Smith in 1999
to commemorate the murder of transgender woman Rita Hester in Massachusetts.

On this day we memorize the people that have been murdered and bullied because of trans-phobia and to celebrate the acceptance of gender diversity.
And most of all, to accept that it’s none of our business what gender other people identify as.
In essence: don’t be a bully.
