Magic Day is every year on October 31.

Magic Day was created 1938 when a Chicago member of the Society of American Magicians got official permission for a Houdini Day from Mrs. Houdini.

On October 311:26 p.m. on October 31, 1926, in Room 401 at Detroit’s Grace Hospital Harry Houdini died from the complications of a ruptured appendix at the age of 52.
Houdini had escaped from cages and chains and milk cans. But he could only escape medical care long enough to die from a problem that might have been treatable if he hadn’t endured the intense stomach pain that had kept him up for nights.
The stories about the details ariound his death vary widely and aren’t well verified.
So this stays a legend.
But of course , legendary people need legendary stories.
And legends never really die.

Harry Houdini still is a great icon for magicians and mainly escape artists.
So much so that escapology became an actual word for this art.
