Celebrated every year on November 30.
Mason Jar Day was created in 2017 by Misty Campbell-Olbert.
Today we celebrate the day that the mason jar was patented in 1858 by John Landon Mason.
And now we know why those things are called mason jars!
Mason jars are very useful use as cups, hip salad containers, fitness weights, candle holders, whimsical toys…… and sometimes for food…
“Be it known that I, John L. Mason….have invented new and useful Improvements
in the Necks of Bottles, Jars &c.,
Especially such as intended to be air and water tight,
such as are used for sweetmeats.”
