Vodka Day is of course yet another commercially created holiday. So do with it as you please.

The earliest mention of vodka was in the 1400-somethings, where vodka was a variation on the Slavic word “voda” which means “little water”.
Vodka in that time was distilled medicines or cosmetics from fermented potato or grains.
About a century or more later vodka also became synonym with gorzalka, the burning drink which was considered to be just medicinal…..
